The US users have already been using theirs for nearly five months… at last! There are still a lot of countries where there is no Blackberry store, nevertheless stores for other Latin countries are supposed to be set up soon. The function of the Blackberry App World is exactly the same as iTunes for the iPhone, or the Android Market for the Android-based smart phones: it is a marketplace for applications uploaded by developers. Blackberry users can download the App World via this link: http://mobileapps.blackberry.com/devicesoftware/entry.do?code=appworld or directly from their phone on Blackberry.com/appworld. It can be downloaded in Spanish or in English. There isn’t any version in Brazilian Portuguese yet, but it is hoped to be available before the end of 2009. From the point of view of a Mexican application developing company, a question is being asked: will this existing merketplace, dedicated to Mexico, make it easier to enter the platform and get in a position to sell our products? It is currently impossible for Mexican companies as far as they are not set in the USA. Will this be the opportunity to legitimize our entry on this market? |

For the moment, only 300 free applications are offered to Mexican Blackberry users (of various categories, from pure entertaining to business productivity). But other applications, including purchasable ones, will be available soon. |
