On the 17th of September took place in Sunnyvale, California, the 2009 edition of Mobile Play, a technology congress organized by Plug and Play Tech Center. A whole day of conferences and forums, dedicated to mobile industry leaders.

As in other events of this kind, the point is enabling the participants to discuss different themes around there businesses, including monetization strategies, location based services, mobile payment, mobile application analytics, gaming, and mobile device impact on the market. And in addition to that, it included a demo session featuring “the hottest applications in mobile today”.

This event was also the theater of the semi-final of a big international technologic contest: the Qprize competition. Projects of the whole world compete to win venture financing and early stage financing, presenting their business plans in one of the four semi-final events (for each of the four contest markets: China, Europe, India and North America).

The semi-finalists of North America were then chosen that day, and the winner will compete for the first place on the 3rd of November at the "Qualcomm Ventures CEO Summit" in San Diego, California. The final winner also be sent to Barcelona in February to compete as a finalist in the renowned GSMA Global Mobile Awards - Mobile Innovation Grand Prix.

All of the nine American projects competing in semi-final, all presenting very different and innovating features, were from the USA (the list is available on Qualcomm’s website). Of course, we nevertheless wish txt.eagle, the elected American semi-finalist, good luck for the final tour of the competition… But for the next edition, Canadian and Mexican entrepreneurs, chin up!!
